Building Climate Resilience: Zurich Launches Weather Risk Management Tool

It generates insights using exclusive weather and climate data.

Climate Spotlight is an interactive digital platform created by Zurich Resilience Solutions, a division of Zurich Insurance Group, to help companies, governments, and other public organisations identify, reduce, and manage risks related to climate change and extreme weather.

The program models 10 climate-related hazards under best-to-worst-case scenarios through the year 2100, offering insights based on proprietary data.

According to Aroo Sivasubramaniam, head of Zurich Resilience Solutions for North America, “Zurich Resilience Solutions is assisting customers in being proactive and taking steps to build their extreme weather and climate resilience in the face of worsening weather and climate conditions.”

“In order to help businesses identify and quantify risks to their operations, assets, and people, The Spotlight uses our proprietary weather and climate data to generate insights that can help them allocate capital and gain a competitive advantage.”

The solution is available in two formats:

  1. Climate Spotlight Core: A self-service dashboard enabling users to assess climate risks for up to 100 global sites.
  2. Climate Spotlight Expert: A customized option offering metrics tailored to specific business needs, the ability to analyze unlimited sites, and consultation with Zurich’s in-house climate risk experts.

Strategic planning, risk materiality analysis, and adherence to climate reporting frameworks like the Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) and the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) are made possible by the insights both versions offer across four climate change scenarios.

Zurich North America offers preventative and insurance services to a variety of industries, including technology and agriculture. It functions as a member of the multi-line insurer Zurich Insurance Group, which covers more than 200 nations and territories.
